Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, known for hit numbers like "Bolo Tara Rara" and "Tunak Tunak", has sung a Haryanvi number for Rakesh Mehta's directorial debut "Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi".

Daler has recorded the song "Mein Haryane ka sher" for the film, which is about a Hariyanvi cop played by Manu Rishi.

"As the character played by Manu Rishi is very much a north Indian, hence Daler Mehndi was an obvious choice for the singer. Daler Mehndi is one of the most heard singers in North India and he is going to be a value addition to the film. His voice is going to spice up the music of the film, " said Mehta in a statement.

He also feels that "once the song is out, it will become a rage amongst the north Indian audiences, especially the Jat community from Haryana."

Daler had previously sung the title track of "Rang De Basanti", "Aila Re Aila" in "Khatta Meetha" and "Bhootni ke" in "Singh Is Kinng".
